It is one of a successful series of review journals whose unique format is designed to provide a systematic and critical assessment of the literature as presented in the many primary journals. The fields of HIV and AIDS are divided into nine sections that are reviewed once a year. Each section is assigned one or two Section Editors, leading authorities in the area, who identify the most important topics at that time. Here we are pleased to introduce the Section Editor for this issue. SECTION EDITOR Carlos del Rio Dr del Rio is the Hubert Professor and Chair of the Hubert Depart- ment of Global Health at the Roll- ins School of Public Health of Emory University, USA. He is also Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the early diagnosis, access to care, compli- ance with antiretrovirals and the prevention of HIV infection. He has worked for over two decades in hospitals and clinics with marginalized popula- tions including persons who use drugs, to improve outcomes of those infected with HIV and to prevent infection with those at risk. He is member of the Board of Directors of the Inter- national Antiviral Society-USA (IAS-USA) and Chair of the PEPFAR Scientific Advisory Board.
