The minutes of the Interdepartmental Advisory Committee on Reconstruction, Meeting, Parliament House, 14 March 1941, are in Australian Archives (AA), CP43/1 bundle 7 item 1943/553. A departmental memorandum gives the clue to the earliest mention of the commission: 'The Present Position in Regard to Reconstruction' notes that the Interdepartmental Committee on Reconstruction had a sub‐committee, the Development Coordination Committee which 'Last met in November 1941. Got memoranda from CS1R; referred industrial investigation to Tariff Board; recommended a Rural Reconstruction Commission. Meets in Canberra.' Memorandum undated but probably written in mid‐1942. H.
