The Genesis of the Manganese Deposits of Chinhsien, Kwangtung.* THE GENESIS OF THE MANGANESE DEPOSITS OF CHINHSIEN, KWANGTUNG.* BY LEE TIEN-CHEN (Geological Survey of Kwanglung and Kwangsi) INTRODUCTION Manganese deposits are the most important mineral resources of Chin. lisien (Ø). To these manganese fields the author paid a visit of some days in April, 1929. The present paper is a summary of the manganese deposits of my report on "Geology and Mineral Resources of Suwen Haikang Suichi Lienchiang (J), Hopu ('). Chin () and Lingshan (W) districts, Kwangtung," which will be publi'hed in the annual report of the Geological Survey of Kwangtung and Kwangsi. LocATIoN OF MANGANESE DEPOSITS Chinhsien is situated in the far south western part of Kwangtung. Within this district three manganese fields have been found (Fig. i), viz, (i) Kungtungling Shanglungling (J), (2) and Ch'angkangling and () Tiaoyükung The first one is 20 li N, the second, 25 li N. of Huangwut'unhsü (íJf), and the last,, io li W. of Shangtsing. hsü (Jif). GEOLOGY OF MANGANESE FIELDS. The Geological features of these fields are rather simple, and are treated as follows: z.
