The work in question here comprises pp. 64–85 of the codex (with one page blank). 1 The editor calls attention to the ‘400,000 just’ in the fragmentary passage of Manichean Homilies , 68.18. This is also the number of the tribe of Judah in Josephus' version of the Davidic census, Antiquities , VII,13,1. 1 Koptischgnostische Apokalypsen , pp. 91–3. 1 Because the last explanation is contrasted with the other thirteen in style as well as in meaning, I do not think the author intends to stress the total of fourteen here, and therefore the Manichean parallel with the fourteen Aeons suggested by Böhlig (pp. 91–2) does not seem appropriate.
