Actn hydrochim. hydrobiol. 18 (1990) 4, 468 Buehbespreehung Ytudis Oerologira 1 - 1988. Institute of Industrial Landscape Ecology, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Ostrava, Chitttisiho 10. CS 710 00 Ostrava (not on market) The first issue of 125 pages of new collected papers contains 12 articles concerning the conse- qumces of the industrial environmental pollntion on different organisms arid communities. The papers are written in Czech with summaries in English and Russian. Out of 12 papers 4 deal wit.h the water environment: A. SK~CEL described the chemical and microbiological analyses of the tributaries of the fiance Reservoir in the Beskydy Mts. near Ostrava. This serves for water supply and first' analyses were performed33 yeus ago. There 8-as foundaslight det.erioration of the water quality due to a. recrea- tion iirea and a village. BOD, showed 1 ... 2, sometimes 3 nig/l, nitrates up to 10 mgil. There were tens of coliforms, hundreds of psychrophilic and tens of mesophilic bacteria per 1 ml. F. ~~UB~EEIC arranged experimental brooks to be able to test the effects of zero discharges on the benthic. communities in streams. The stopping of discharge for 1 ... 12 h in summer and autumn did not disturb the structure and activity of zoobenthos, except of fish. A longer duration of zero dis- chargr had a negntive effect. The reconstitntion of a damaged benthic commiinity was affected by 1. the drift, 2. recolonization on the mud surfact,. 3. activity of the hyporheic organisms. The dry bed was colonized by terrestrial animnls, mainly carnivores and saprophages (Carabidae, Staphylinidae. Formicidtie, 3Inscid;i.e. Araneidn a. 0.). Z. DIJHIR studied the macrozoobenthos in the lower stretch of the Ostravice Kiver, which was till 1983 nearly totally destroyed by the kraft ~indpiipermill wastes inVratimov. Only few organism of the zoobenthos (Oligoehaetn, Tubificidae, snails) were detected in the nea, rest vicinity of banks nmong the Sphaerofilus nrrtans mats. The river bed was void of living zoobenthos. 31. SIKOROVA described the macroflora and terrestric niarrofnnna inhabiting the banks of 7 slurry ponds of the colliery Dnkla in Ostrava-Havibv, where the fine coal dust is allowed to sediment, and ti slight self-purification of waste waters occurs. The vegetation was classified as a. ruderal one. The c.ollect.ed papers are expected to be published yearly and 8 publication of papers in English will be preferred. The collected papers are destined for the international excha.nge of publications. V. SL~DE~EK
