Somaliland: Government List Following the June 26th election in Somaliland, President Ahmad Muhammad Mahmud Silanyo , announced his cabinet on July 28th. Garoweonline noted that there are 20 ministers and six assistant ministers. The list includes some members of his Kulmiye Party and members of the civil society, among them people from the diaspora. Most of the ministers are new appointments. The list is as follows: Ministers Foreign Affairs: Dr Muhammad Abdullahi Umar Internal Affairs: Dr Muhammad Abdi Gabose Finance: Eng Muhammad Hanshi Ilmi National Planning and Development: Dr Sa’ad Ali Shire Public Works and Transport: Husayn Ahmad Aydid Communication and Higher Education: Zamzam Abdi Adan Health: Dr. Husayn Muhummed Muhammad aka Xoog Defence: Ahmad Haji Ali Adami. Trade, Industry and Tourism: Abdirazaq Khalif Ahmad Livestock, Environment and Rural Development: Dr Ahmad Hanshi Oday Posts and Telecommunication: Abdirazaq Ibrahim Muhammad Justice: Prof Isma’il Mumin Are Religion and Endowment: Shaykh Khalil Abdullahi Ahmad Labour and Social Affairs: Ilhan Muhammad Jama. Many clans claimed that the president had not made his appointments fairly. Several politicians and civilians publicly attacked President Silanyo in the media in Western Somaliland. Somaliland forces shot at protestors in Hargeysa and Boorame and they were later accused of using excessive force.
