Nanotube–silicon heterojunction solar cells are a recent photovoltaic architecture with demonstrated power conversion efficiencies of up to 14%. Such devices may in part exploit the photoactivity of carbon nanotubes. Joseph G. Shapter and coworkers summarize and review on page 1043 the work to date in this emerging field.
