Sexual homodonty in Bathyraja griseocauda (Norman 1937) from the Southern Eastern Pacific (Chile) (Chondrichthyes, Rajidae: Arhynchobatinae)

Sexual homodonty in Bathyraja griseocauda (Norman 1937) from the Southern Eastern Pacific (Chile)... Summary External dental morphology and tooth vascularization of 42 adult specimens of Bathyraja griseocauda were analyzed. Height and width of the first functional tooth row of both sexes were measured. The species shows homodonty in both jaws, and monocuspid teeth arranged in transversal and parallel rows. No statistically significant differences between female and male teeth were found. With the aim of complementing the B. griseocauda odontological study, other tooth descriptions of the Bathyraja genus were compared: B. albomaculata Norman 1937, B. richardsoni Garrick 1961 and B. spinicauda Jensen 1914. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Applied Ichthyology Wiley
