On January 20th, President Pinto da Costa dismissed Osvaldo Abreu as Minister for Public works, Infrastructures, and Natural Resources following a proposal from Prime Minister Gabriel Costa . Nine new ministers were appointed in a wide‐ranging reshuffle. Fernando Maquengo , the Liberation of Sao Tome and Principe‐Social Democratic Party's ( MLSTP‐PSD ) secretary general, was appointed Minister for Public Works, Natural Resources, and the Environment, replacing Abreu. Maquengo, a former Labour and Solidarity Minister, had recently been the National Oil Agency’ s executive director. Jose Maria Amado Fonseca (MLSTP) was appointed Secretary of State for Infrastructures and the Environment. The Health and Social Affairs Ministry, whose minister was dismissed two weeks ago, will be led by Maria Tome , a Democratic Movement Force for Change/Liberal Party ( MDFM/PL ) member. Tome is a former Social Affairs Minister.
