Reflective Practice in Family Therapy: Research, Supervision, and Pedagogy Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy 2016, 37, 253–255 doi: 10.1002/anzf.1177 Editorial Reflective Practice in Family Therapy: Research, Supervision, and Pedagogy This issue addresses themes of reflective practice, dialogical supervision and therapy, family therapy pedagogy, qualitative research and much more. In all ten papers addressing the following topics: an experiential exercise in dialogical reflective practice, dialogical research in supervision, improving competency in family therapy pedagogy, a narrative account of counselling students hosted at a Maori meeting place, a per- sonal story of separation in Bowen family systems research, the mindful use of an intersession break in therapy, understanding dialogical therapy as community, a magi- cal realist perspective in narrative therapy for early psychosis, qualitative research on family resilience in acquired physical disability and personal and couple narratives in late stage cancer. The first article is Reflective Practice: An Exercise in Exploring Inner Dialogue and Vertical Polyphony by Goldfinch, MacDonald, Mikes-Liu, and Ong from Sydney, Aus- tralia. It presents an experiential training exercise to enhance awareness and under- standing of the therapist’s inner dialogue and create a space for reflective practice in therapy and supervision.
