KWAN (Geological Survey of China) With 3 Tct-figure INTRODUCTION In March, 1944, while carrying on the geological reconnaissance in the Hosot-Tokson2 area, the writers had an opportunity of spending a few days in the vicinity of a small village named Kumush3 (Fig. 1) to study a moderately metamorphosed rock series. This region is characterized by Tihwa Dapancheng 0 50 iookm Tohson H.so Koroshar Kuus: 'OSinger Fig. 1 Map showing the location of (x)gmssularite and epidote gentle slopes and open valleys, thus attaining a topographic maturity and laying bare a wide region of bed rocks. About half a kilometer noith of ICumush, a layer of grossularite, epidote, calcite and other minor minerals was found. It occurs as a rather uniform layer in the porphyroblastic schist of the metamorphosed rock series which contains abundant red pegmatitic intrusives.
