NOTES AND NEWS The Australian Association of Occupational Therapists’ 14th Federal Conference will be held in Brisbane, Australia, 3 - 6 September 1986. While the conference is for Occupational Therapists, the organizers are seeking abstracts from other professions to ensure a diverse programme, not restrictive to occupational therapy. The theme of the conference is “On Technology” and further information may be obtained from Diane Thompson, PO Box 731, Toowong, 4066. ******* Graduate Diploma in Health Education The Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences has developed a Graduate Diploma for people working in the health services area and attracts people from diverse backgrounds, including speech pathology, community education, dietetics, medical librarianship, occupational therapy, journalism, dentistry and nursing. The course is based on an assumption that responsibility for developing positive health attitudes, behaviour and practices falls on individuals, families, community groups, health professionals and government authorities. People taking the two year part time course will generally already hold a recognised degree or diploma. Some others may be regarded as having equivalent qualifications. Phone: 342 0345. ******* Busselton Population Studies Linked data from health surveys conducted in the Shire of Busselton (total population about 8000) in Western Australia at three-yearly intervals from 1966 to 1983 are now available on computer tape or in other forms to bona fide research workers. VOLUME IX. NUMBER 2 I90 Surveys were conducted of school children and adults at 3 year intervals between 1966 and 1981 (I983 tor children) and covered a wide range of questionnaire elicited demographic and health data as well as physiological, biochemical and other measurements. Wise on (02) 516 8958. ********** The organisers of the second national “Women’s Health in a Changing Society” Conference to be held in Adelaide 4 - 7th September, 1985 are calling for papers and workshop themes. They are interested in papers to contribute. and workshops that arise from experience and research, and all women are encouraged The Conference will examine women’s health issues; the social, economic and environmental factors which affect their health; and the structures and policies of the health care system which affect women both as providers and as users of health services. In addressing such broad themes, the organisers are concerned that the Conference be relevent and accessible to a wide range of women.
