NEW OVARIAN SUPPORT GROUP NAMED, OVACOME

NEW OVARIAN SUPPORT GROUP NAMED, OVACOME ’Ovacome’, launched in 1996, is a new support group set up particularly for women with ovarian cancer, and their families. The support group was started by a 32-year-old wife and mother called Sarah Dickinson. Sarah was hagnosed with incurable ovarian cancer and was told that she probably had approximately 1 year to live. When Sarah realized there were no support groups in the United Kingdom especially for women with ovarian cancer, her immedlate response was to think of others, and with the help of some like-minded women started this support group. Sarah’s intention is to connect interested parties by phone, fax, e-mail and post, so that they may talk, dlscuss their individual situations, share experiences and help each other, primarily by knowing they are not alone. Sarah also hopes to raise money for research and equipment. If anyone is interested in finding out more about ‘Ovacome’ please contact: Ms Katie Gunn, Cancer Relief Macmillan Fund, 15-19 Britten Street, London SW3 3TZ, UK. Please note: Cancer Macmillan Fund (CMF)has recently launched a Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Campaign. Launched in September 1996, the campaign’s main aim is to improve women’s awareness of the symptoms of ovarian and other gynaecological cancers and http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png European Journal of Cancer Care Wiley
