Mauritania: Government Reshuffle

Mauritania: Government Reshuffle President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdellahi has decided to introduce the first reshuffle in the new government, headed by Prime Minister Zeine Ould Zeidane after the failure by a number of ministers to carry out their jobs. Information coming in to Al‐Akhbar suggested that the commissioner in charge of Food Security would be the first to leave his ministerial post. The same source said the commissioner in charge of Food Security and the minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources had embarrassed the new government following their constant calls made to the outside world about the food situation in the country. Both rushed to call for help portraying the country as if it was living through its worst times, while foreign partners gave testimony to the tangible progress during the transitional period. This matter also shocked the people, who were expecting more significant action from the new government, but which started its work by begging from foreign countries, even before presenting its new budget to parliament. Abstract

President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdellahi has decided to introduce the first reshuffle in the new government, headed by Prime Minister Zeine Ould Zeidane after the failure by a number of ministers to carry out their jobs.
