It excludes articles published in 1998 since they will be covered in future issues. The largest number of references again concentrate on issues related to AVRDXR and to various types of cellular xenotransplants. Amongst the reviews during this period, Platt reviewed the prospects for xenotransplantation of the kidney [ 11, and Wolf et al. described the pig as a model for liver xenotransplantation [2]. Hyperacute rejection showing humoral injury in porcine livers perfused with human blood were also reported [9]. Transgenic animals to prevent hyperacute rejection Another description of the hDAF transgenic pigs was published [lo]. In addition, there were additional studies on the potential use of H-transferase to suppress alpha-gal expression [ 111. Sepp et al. pointed out that other type 2 oligosaccharide structures are expressed http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Xenotransplantation Wiley
