The importance of the slit function is discussed in connection with the calculation of tristimulus values by the weighted‐ordinate method. The influence of slit‐function shape on wavelength calibration is shown. The influence of slit‐function range on photometric accuracy is discussed. It is shown how slit‐function range affects the choice of optimum radiance‐factor measurement interval and vice versa.
