JOHJI TAJIMA is a research fellow in Multimedia Research Laboratories, NEC Corporation. He graduated from the Faculty of Science, the University of Tokyo, in 1971 and received a doctorate in 1990. Since he joined NEC Corporation in 1971, he has been engaged in research on image processing and pattern analysis, especially color image processing and 3D vision. Dr. Tajima received the best paper awards for his papers from the Institute of Image Electronics Engineers of Japan (IIEEJ) (1990 and 1998), and the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) (1991). His book, “Principles of Color Image Reproduction,” was published by Maruzen in 1996. He is a fellow of International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). Dr. Tajima is a member of IEICE, IIEEJ, the Information Processing Society of Japan, and the Japanese Society of Printing Science and Technology. HIROHISA YAGUCHI received a B. E. degree in photographic engineering from Chiba University in 1974 and a Ph. D. in information processing from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1980.
