(CII), University of Derby in England. In September 1999, he was appointed Professor in the School of Information Systems at the University of East Anglia in Norwich England. STEVEN D. HORDLEY received a B. S. in mathematics from the University of Manchester in England in 1992. In 1996, he obtained a M. S. in image processing from Cranï¬eld Institute of Technology in England. Between 1996 and 1999 he studied at the University of York and the University of Derby toward a Ph. D. in color science. In September 1999 he was appointed a Senior Research Fellow at the University of East Anglia and in October 2000 he was appointed a Lecturer at the same institution. PAUL M. HUBEL has been a member of the technical staff at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories for six years working in the Printing Technology Department. His recent work has been on illumination estimation and color correction for digital cameras. Past projects include color reproduction for scanners, copiers, and printers. Dr. Hubel received a B. S. in optical engineering from the University of Rochester in 1986, and a Ph. D. from Oxford University in engineering science in 1990. His doctoral thesis was on Color Reï¬ection Holography.
