Volume 33, Number 3, June 2008 MARIA V. DIAMANTI is a Ph. D. student at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, where she graduated in 2005 in materials engineering with a M. S. thesis on the anodizing process applied to titanium and the photocatalytic properties of titanium oxides. Her research is still focused on the manifold aspects of titanium, as a metal and as an oxide. It also involves the study of interference colors on titanium and their applications in architectural and design ï¬elds. BARBARA DEL CURTO is a researcher in industrial design at Politecnico di Milano. She graduated in industrial design at Politecnico di Milano (2000) and received a Ph. D. degree in materials engineering (2004) at Politecnico di Milano. Her thesis was ââCharacterization, implementation and technology transfer of a new method of titanium anodization.ââ She is coordinator of ââMaterials and Design,ââ the resource center for innovative materials of Politecnico di Milano. MARIAPIA PEDEFERRI is associate professor for the Material Science and Technology Department at Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated in 1995 with a degree in chemical engineering.
