The authors describe the characteristics inherent in a home visit in crisis situations. They form a hypothesis on a particular kind of relationship which develops between the one who asks for the visit and the Institution. By means of a description of a clinical case they show various methodologies which re‐define the context so as to permit the therapist to take control of the relationship. 16 cases have been treated according to this hypothesis over three years. However the manoeuvres used each time have been continually modified and adjusted. The proposed model represents an attempt at unification of the most effective manoeuvres in a coherent strategy.
