Computations of the colorimetric specifications of numerous colored objects illuminated by a series of hypothetical metameric illuminants reveal that the metric chroma may be enhanced by appropriate design of the spectral distribution of the source. Specifically, the Thornton “prime‐color lamp” is of the type which enhances metric chroma.
