I have served as one of four editors of IJA since August 2006 and it is my pleasure now to take on the role of Editor‐in‐Chief. First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere thanks to my immediate predecessor, Professor Brenda Porter, for her dedication and commitment to the journal since its inception ten years ago. As one of the founders of the journal, Brenda has worked tirelessly to ensure its success. My mission is to ensure that IJA remains the premier specialist auditing journal with a global perspective. I see my role as building on the work undertaken by Brenda and to work with the other editors to take the journal forward. I am committed to enhancing the quality and reputation of the journal while maintaining the practical relevance of the papers published. I am delighted to announce that we have recently appointed Associate Professor Clive Lennox of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to the editorial team. Clive has an excellent reputation as a high quality auditing researcher and we are fortunate to have his expertise on the editorial team. His appointment reflects the growing number of paper submissions we receive from academics based in Asia. Clive joins Professors Anne Loft of University of Lund, Sweden and Tom McKee,who has recently joined the Medical University of South Carolina. Our team of editors truly reflects the international focus of the journal. We have also recently strengthened our editorial advisory board and we are grateful that so many highly regarded researchers in the auditing field across the globe have indicated their willingness to serve on the board. We appreciate their support of the journal and will be drawing on their expertise to advise us as we consider ways to further advance the journal. We shall be having a number of special issues of the journal during the next couple of years. These issues will focus on specific areas and contemporary topics in auditing or be linked to an auditing conference. We are currently working on a special issue on regulation, which is being edited by Associate Professor Clive Lennox. We are also linking with the First Global Academic Conference on Internal Audit and Corporate Governance and the BAA Auditing Special Interest Group's National Auditing Conference. We will be inviting the authors of the best papers presented at these conferences to submit their papers to the IJA. A guest editor will ensure that the papers are reviewed promptly so that they can be published in a special issue with minimum delay. We also plan to initiate an annual best paper award and two highly commended awards. We therefore encourage you, as auditing researchers and thought leaders, to submit high quality papers to the journal. We will be working with Wiley‐Blackwell to further refine the electronic submission and review process. Our aim is to run an efficient review process with shorter turnaround times. The many reviewers of our papers do an excellent job and we are extremely grateful for the time and effort that they put in to support the journal. In conclusion, I look forward to my new responsibilities and to working with the other editors to ensure the ongoing success of IJA as an important avenue for you to disseminate the results of your work to a global audience.
