I feel that I cannot do better than to close by paraphrasing his final paragraph: âIn transferring the control of the Journal, as I do with this number, to its new editor, I feel, as is only natural, that to part with the child that has occupied so much of my care for so long marks a break which is less only than retiring from [my university]. . . .
