Durham Symposium on the Relations between Infinite‐Dimensional and Finite‐Dimensional Convexity

Durham Symposium on the Relations between Infinite‐Dimensional and Finite‐Dimensional Convexity DURHAM SYMPOSIUM ON THE RELATIONS BETWEEN INFINITE-DIMENSIONAL AND FINITE-DIMENSIONAL CONVEXITY 21 July-l August 1975 One of the main reasons for arranging a symposium on this topic was the impression that various aspects of convexity were being developed by two or three groups of people, with rather little contact between the groups. The participants (see the list on pages 1-2) included many active workers from the different groups. A substantial, but not overwhelming, programme of lectures, mainly one hour or half an hour, was arranged. The lecture list is given on pages 2-3 ; abstracts follow on pages 3 to 28. There was plenty of time between the lectures for work as individuals and as small groups. Many problems were discussed and some of these were entered in a " Problem book ". These problems are reproduced on pages 28 to 33. The participants seemed concerned to learn of and to appreciate work in fields of convexity quite remote from their own main specialities. They seemed to welcome very much the opportunity to make contact with, and to get to know, other workers on convexity. We have no doubt that many of the contacts made at this meeting will be http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society Wiley
