It relies on storage of family clinical and genetic data in a central database, from which data are exported in a suitable format for input into DOLINK. Data on genetic loci (affection loci, quantitative trait loci, and genetic marker loci) are stored in a single ASCII text file. The entry of data for a particular group of families, or for a particular project, is thus required once only, thereby increasing convenience and reducing input errors.
