Contributors for this Issue David Pong David Pong, Professor of History and Director of East Asian Studies, University of Delaware was educated in China and Hong Kong. His publications include Shen Pao-chen and Chinaâs Modernization in the Nineteenth Century (1994), recently translated into Chinese as Shen Baozhen pingzhuan: Zhongguo jindaihua de changshi (2000); and Ideal and Reality: Social and Political Change in Modern China, 1860-1949 (1985, 1988) to name but a few. Professor Pong has in addition published more than thirty articles and book chapters. Michele Ford Michele Ford is a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong. Her research focuses on the role of NGOs in the reconstruction of the Indonesian labour movement. Michele has published on industrial relations corporatism under Suharto, labour relations during the Habibie interregnum, Indonesiaâs garment industry and womenâs work in Indonesia. Leong Liew Leong Liew is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of International Business & Politics, Griffith University. His latest book, coedited with C.L. Chiou (The University of Queensland), is Uncertain Future: Taiwan-Hong Kong-China Relations After Hong Kongâs Return to Chinese
