Abstract

Content The railroad line Toluca–Mexico City is scheduled to become operational by the end of 2019. A distinctive feature in two viaducts with up to 3865 m length are the “MAURER Guided Cross-Ties”, the first anti-seismic railroad expansion joints world- wide. Together with a complex system consisting of bearings, dampers, elastomeric spring isolators and concrete buffers they provide safety and continued funtionality for a variety of loads: from braking and acceleration forces in normal operation up to the Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE). The new intercity line features a length of 57.7 km. About 300,000 passengers are expected; the investment volume amounts to 2.5 billion US$.
