Content In an international competition, the state of Bahia (Brazil) asked the participants to develop ideas for redeveloping Salvador’s inner city stadium “Fonte Nova”, which is currently not in operation because of structural problems with the upper tiers. The proposal of the design team consisting of Schulitz Architects (Braunschweig), Setepla (Sao Paulo) and RFR Engineers (Stuttgart) was awarded 1st Prize. The design of the new stadium combines the tradition of the old stadium with the modern elements of new stadiums and an innovative, unique new roof design (see pp.213–214). Articles Steel 149 Hans J.
