It was a year of “firsts” for the Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry (AsianJOC) in 2012. The Asian Chemical Editorial Society (ACES) teamed up with the Korean Society of Organic Synthesis (KSOS) to realize the AsianJOC as the first ACES sister journal of Chemistry ‐ An Asian Journal . Of course, the first issue of the AsianJOC was published and we got our first glimpse of the wonderful chemistry that was to follow over the next four months. Our first Editorial discussed the buzz of excitement as Asia′s own top organic chemistry journal was brought into being, while our social media sites tweeted into life and made us new friends on the web. 1 The AsianJOC and Chemistry – An Asian Journal are sister journals in the ACES family. ACES is made up of the 13 chemical societies shown above and is joined by KSOS for the publication of the AsianJOC . Quality First Among all these new beginnings, the most important is that researchers from over 20 different countries around the world sent their first submissions to the AsianJOC. Nearly 50 manuscripts in four issues have brought outstanding reports from all aspects of research for the community
