Bibliography of Statistical Bibliographies

Bibliography of Statistical Bibliographies Bibliography of Statistical Bibliographies. By H. 0. LANCASTER. Edinburgh and London : Oliver and Boyd (for the International Statistical Institute). 1968. Pp. ix + 103. $4. 4s. The title explains the nature of this book. But the term ‘bibliographies’ includes also expository papers, relevant textbooks (such as Kempthorne’s Introduction to Genetic Statistics) and papers with a specially useful and inclusive list of references. The term ‘statistical’ is to be understood in a generous sense. Genetical and biological statistics are included, as important applied fields, but so also are more peripheral topics such as mathematical logic and the theory of games. The book is divided into five sections as follows: (1) Personal biographies. Geneticists will be particularly interested in references to biographies of Fisher, Galton, Haldane, Mendel and Pearson. (Perhaps Florence Nightingale should also have been included in this section, in view of her interest in statistics. Biographies of some Reviews of the individuals mentioned here are also to be found in E. T. Bell’s amusing and provocative book, H e n of Mathemdim, which has somehow been omitted.) (2) Subject bibliographies, indexed by author. (3) National bibliographies. (4) Subject index. Here ‘genetics’ is sub-classifiedinto ‘biometrical; correlations; dominance ; http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Annals of Human Genetics Wiley
