The Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 42:3, pp. 337^339 Award of Distinguished Fellow of the Society to Dr Robin Johnson The AARES committee is pleased to announce the awarding of the ¢rst ever Distinguished Fellow of the Society award to Dr Robin Johnson. Robin has made a signi¢cant contribution to the agricultural economics discipline in Australia and New Zealand, as well as to the AARES as a professional society, and as such is a worthy recipient of this reward. Robin was born in New Zealand in 1927, and graduated with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree from Lincoln College, New Zealand in 1952. He then completed a Masters degree from Massey University, New Zealand in 1953, a Bachelor of Letters from Oxford University, England in 1957, and went on to complete a PhD at the University of London in 1968. His working career began in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), ¢rst as a research o¤cer in the UK Colonial O¤ce, and then as a Lecturer in economics at the University of Rhodesia. On his return to New Zealand he was appointed Deputy Director of the Agricultural Economics Research Unit at Lincoln College, a post he held for six years.
