David Abelló is a Research Officer with the Social Policy Research Centre, University of New South Wales. He specialises in the design and conduct of qualitative research involving people experiencing multiple disadvantages. David’s research interests include disability, mental health and labour force participation and unemployment. Michael Alexander is a Principal Research Fellow at the Australian Institute of Family Studies. His research interests include work and family, parental leave, welfare to work, labour market regulation and most recently the family law system. Jennifer Baxter is a Research Fellow at the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Her research interests include maternal employment following childbearing, work–family spillover, children’s time use and parental time with children. She has made extensive use of the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC) to explore these areas of research. Allan Borowski is Professor of Social Work and Social Policy at La Trobe University. His research interests include the economic, social and political impacts of population ageing and youth justice. With regard to the latter, his recent research has focussed on the Children’s Court. Michelle Brady is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta.
