Among the many skills a leader should be aware of, I consider communication with others as the most essential element of an effective leadership. Only through communication can one acknowledge the difference among members, and such acknowledgement is essential for harmonization. Also as a professor and psychiatrist, research and education are as important as the treatment of patients. Even though a leader may not be able to master all three factors perfectly, it is important that the leader keeps close those who are able to do so as to ensure a synergistic goal for the patients and society.
