DAVID ALMAN H. E. 1. du Pont de Nemours & Co. 945 Stephenson Highway Troy, Michigan 48084 Annual Regional Meeting of the Color Science Association of Japan in the Kansai District The 1983 regional meeting of the Color Science Association of Japan (CSAJ) in the Kansai district was held in Osaka, February 18, 1983. Ten papers were presented. An invited lecture by U. Maeda on dyeing in ancient Japan and related topics introduced the meeting. Several papers dealt with colorimetry, color appearance, and color vision. H . Sobagaki, K. Takahama, and Y. Nayatani determined the colorimetric specification of the Munsell colors for various illuminants by use of spectral reflectance distributions of actual object colors. S . Nakamura devised a flat-correction method for adjusting spectral reflectanccs of an object color for given values of chromaticity. The method was a modified version of that used by Takahama and Nayatani in 1972. M . Takebayashi and K. Takahama found that spectral sensitivities of off responscs in r-g and y - b opponent-color cells in the monkeyâs LGN were closely related to psychological complementary-hue responses of afterimages. N . Osaka obtained cqualunique-hue contours as a function of retinal eccentricity, and found unique
