ALGERIA: Warning to Neighbours The authorities say an armed group of 30 terrorists is contemplating attacking French, American, and Algerian interests in the Sahel region. According to privately‐owned Tunisian radio station Mosaique FM , Algeria has allegedly sent messages to security officials in Tunisia and Libya asking them to stick with the heightened level of surveillance of the borders between their countries and Algeria. The Algerian authorities say they have received information about the establishment of a new armed group made up of 30 terrorists belonging to the Signed‐in‐blood battalion and that they contemplate carrying out attacks against French, American, and Algerian interests in the Sahel region. The Tunisian radio station also indicated, this still according to Algerian sources involved in the issue of fighting terrorism, that the group, made up of terrorists of different nationalities, is allegedly moving from north Mali , southern Libya, and close to the southern border of Tunisia. The same Algerian sources said the Algerian security agencies had heightened the degree of vigilance and surveillance on the borders with Mali, Libya, and Tunisia to prevent any infiltration into Algerian territory, L'Expression website, Algiers reported (17/7) .
