Prior to his employment at Clemson, he was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Pembroke State University and an Associate Professor of computer science at Duke University. His current research interests are in performance and reliability modeling of computer systems and illumination modeling for rendering virtual environments. OLIVER A. HEIM is a graduate student at Clemson University. He received a B. S. in computer science from the University of Georgia in Athens. He is currently working as a research assistant at Clemson University on a NASA grant studying computers-supported collaborative work. Other research interests include realistic image synthesis,in particular, terrain generation. J. STEPHEN JUNKINS is a software engineer for the Intel corporation. He holds B. S. and M. S. degrees in computer science, both from Clemson University. He has also worked for Siemens Medical Systems and for Los Alamos National Laboratories. His current research interests are illumination modeling and virtual environments. When not working, he enjoys white water kayaking in the Columbia Gorge Watershed. MARK S.
