He is also a member of CIE technical committees TC1-55, TC1-56, and TC1-59. ROLF G. KUEHNI received his education as a textile chemist in Germany. In the United States, he worked in the industry until his retirement from DyStar L. P. in 2000. The two papers that he has written as part of this issue exemplify his abilities as a scholar and a scientist. These abilities are also apparent in the books that he has written or edited, Color, Essence and Logic, Computer Colorant Formulation and Color Technology in the Textile Industry. Mr. Kuehni is active in many professional organizations including the American Association of Textile Chemists and colorists, the Inter-Society Color Council, and the Commission Interna- tionale L’Eclairage (CIE). He is also a past editor of this journal. Dr. CHANGJUN LI is a Research Fellow at the CII. He received a B. S. in computational mathematics from Peking University, China in 1979. In 1982, he earned his M. S. in numerical analysis from the Department of Technical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Science. His Ph.
