About the author Chairman of CIE Technical Committee 1.3, Colorimetry, in addition to directing research at Kodak Limited. HENRY HEMMENDINGER, Ph.D., received his degree in astronomy. His introduction to color came at General Aniline and Film Corporation, where he began a collaboration with Hugh R. Davidson which culminated in their founding the firm of Davidson and Hemmendinger, noted for the famous COMIC colorant mixture computers and for continuing education courses. Dr. Hemmendinger spent some time with Kollmorgen Corporation after that firm acquired D&H, then left to become a color consultant operating the Hemmendinger Color Laboratory. W. D. G. COX is lecturer in Optics and Visual Perception at Teesside College of Art in England. He was originally trained as a zoologist at Oxford University. He is particularly interested in photographic technology. NADlNE BERTIN, a native New Yorker and a member of MENSA, was educated in piano and languages in New York City. Her career encompasses retailing, public relations, promotion, advertising, television and radio production and appearances, and, for the last ten years, magazine publishing. She held important positions at Vogue and Mademoiselle before moving to House & Garden in 1972. ROBERT W. G.
