STYNE died suddenly at his home in Coral Gables, Florida, on 26 April 1992. Alex Styne, born in Karlsruhe, Germany, was Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Miami, Florida, and an international lighting and color consultant. For 10 years he chaired the ISCC Committee on Human Response to Color and the CIE Committee on the Visual Environment. He served as the U.S. representative to CIE Division 6 on Photobiology and Photochemistry. The color community will miss him and remember his many contributions. COLOR research and application
