The species has also been described from the Tunisian coasts by Capape, 1976 (Capape et al., 2012). It also occurs in the North Atlantic and along the coast of Senegal (Kabasakal, 2002; Golani, 2005; Bilecenoglu et al., 2014), inhabiting shal- low waters with sandy or muddy bottoms (down to about 200 m depth). An occurrence was also reported in the brack- ish waters of the Bizerte Lagoon (southwestern Mediter- ranean Sea) (El Kamel et al., 2009).
