1989 annual meeting of the inter‐society color council

1989 annual meeting of the inter‐society color council The most ambitious interest group program was the Vision and Color Appearance meeting devoted to seven formal lectures augmented with panel dicussions. The speakers and topics were the following: Dr. Joel Pokorny, “Modern View of Basics of Color Vision Theory”; Dr. Yoshinobu Nayatani, “On the Non-Linear Color Appearance Model”; Dr. Robert Hunt, “The Physiological Basis of a Model of Color Vision and Its Application in Color Reproduction”; Dr. Ming Ronnier Luo, “Testing Color Model Performance Using Results Obtained from Color Estimation Experiments”; Dr. Michael Pointer, “Measuring Color Reproduction” (delivered by Dr. Hunt in Dr. Pointer’s absence); Dr. Yoshinobu Nayatani, “Field Trials on Color Appearance and Brightness of Chromatic Colors Under Different Adapting Illuminance Levels”; Dr. Yoshinobu Nayatani, “Field Trials on Color Appearance of Chromatic Colors Under Various Light Sources.” Dr. Pokorny contrasted the state of our knowledge of color vision today and 25 years ago as he traced color vision mechanisms operating at retinal, visual pathway, and cortical levels. The remainder of the lectures explored the Hunt and Nayatani color appearance models and their applications. I found it very useful to hear the originators review the structure of their models and indicate the relationships between their mathematical expressions http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Color Research & Application Wiley

Abstract

The most ambitious interest group program was the Vision and Color Appearance meeting devoted to seven formal lectures augmented with panel dicussions. I found it very useful to hear the originators review the structure of their models and indicate the relationships between their mathematical expressions
