Lordy yonder comes papa bout a mile down the road. I know it's him by the two big sacks of groceries he always brings with him when he comes back from the virginny mines. I seen him as I come down off the flats from shakin' down 'simmons and killin' black snakes and he ain't got one speck of coal-dust on him. The way he stops now and then though I bet you he's got a pint of peach brandy or strong gin and has to let down one of the sacks to free an arm to take a drink. Yessirreebob we'll eat big tonight and have a dandy time cause daddy's back from the virginny mines. --Scotty Lee Hamilton
