Editor's Note: Louis Round Wilson Prize for 2017

Editor's Note: Louis Round Wilson Prize for 2017 Editor’s Note Louis Round Wilson Prize for 2017 HE Editorial Board of Studies in Philology voted at its annual meeting in May 2008 to establish an annual prize of $1000 for the Tbest article published in the journal during the previous year. The prize was named in honor of Louis Round Wilson, whose monograph Chaucer’s Relative Constructions appeared as the first issue of Studies in Philology in 1906. Wilson was instrumental in founding and establishing SP, and in helping to ensure that it would have a long and vital future. We are pleased to award the prize for 2017 to Achsah Guibbory. Her article, “Reconsidering Donne: From Libertine Poetry to Arminian Ser- mons,” offers a reading of the entire career of John Donne, stressing con- tinuities between the sexual poems of the 1590s and the devotional and homiletic prose of the 1620s and 30s. Appearing in Studies in Philology 114.3, the article reflects the author’s extraordinary command of Donne and his place in late Elizabethan and early Stuart intellectual culture. We are pleased and honored to have published Dr. Guibbory’s magis - terial study.
