This is what I wrote, getting as many of the details in as possible in so short a space: My birth certificate tells me I was born at Yellow Mountain, Kentucky, the name for a long ago discontinued post office in a small country store two miles and a half from my home. I now live in and own by legal process the house where I was born. My grandfather, Dr. Jasper "Bird" Stewart, moved a mile up creek to this location and built the first house here in the "Spring of the Surrender" (of the Civil War). He was Knott County's first medical doctor and a model for the character of Old Doc
