Editor’s Note

Editor’s Note As the new editor of this journal i would like to open this issue by expressing my deep appreciation for the work of the previous editor, my colleague and friend, m ichael r aposa. As editor he steered the journal through a time of signic fi ant transition. The result is a journal of increased scholarly stature and exposure. All of us who work constructively as scholars of American religious and philosophical thought are indebted to m ichael for his steadfast leadership of this journal over the past several years. As i succeed him as editor, it is my hope to continue to increase the journal’s audience, diversify its contributors, and critically extend the process, naturalist, and pragmatist lineages of Ameri- can religious and philosophical thought. All of the articles in this issue of the AJTP were originally presented as key- note lectures at the 2014 meeting of the i nstitute for American r eligious and Philosophical Thought (i Ar PT), held in honor of the publication of the first volume of r obert c ummings n eville’s three-volume Philosophical Theology. The sequence of the articles, and n eville’s responses to them, coincide with the sequence of papers and responses at the meeting. As readers will no doubt come to agree upon reading the articles and responses, n eville’s Philosophical Theology is destined to become a field-den fi ing work of systematic philosophi - cal theology. i t will instruct and delight scholars in diverse fields and traditions for many generations to come. m ichael h ogue __s __n ksd AJTP 36_1 text.indd 3 12/18/14 1:16 PM http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png American Journal of Theology & Philosophy University of Illinois Press

Abstract

As the new editor of this journal i would like to open this issue by expressing my deep appreciation for the work of the previous editor, my colleague and friend, m ichael r aposa. As readers will no doubt come to agree upon reading the articles and responses, n eville’s Philosophical Theology is destined to become a field-den fi ing work of systematic philosophi - cal theology. i t will instruct and delight scholars in diverse fields and traditions for many generations to come. m ichael h ogue __s __n ksd AJTP 36_1 text.indd 3 12/18/14 1:16 PM
