The government The Government Household Budget Survey System, as household budget the name suggests, is a statistical application based on sample surveys conducted periodically in selected areas in survey system the country. Unlike other conventional Data Processing applications, such as Payroll, Accounting, etc. statistical applications do not run on a daily or monthly basis. They are periodical. This is because: (i) Surveys require a lot of preliminary planning and coordination, (ii) Normally they involve concerted efforts of several institutions and a lot of people, (iii) They cover a lot of variables which may vary with each survey, (iv) Results of each survey take a long time to analyse and interpret. (v) Established statistical indicators take a bit of time to change, (vi) They are very expensive . . . etc. The Government Household Budget Survey is conducted on a periodical basis for the same reasons. The application has been selected for this paper because its purpose is to facilitate appropriate planning for the general development of society.
