Preface by Chairman of ICFIE' 2010 Fuzzy Inf. Eng. (2011) 4: 335 DOI 10.1007/s12543-011-0087-4 EDITORIAL REPORTS Preface by Chairman of ICFIE’ 2010 Abbas Ali Rostami © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg and Fuzzy Information and Engineering Branch of the Operations Research Society of China It is with great pleasure that I welcome all of you, esteemed guests, to Shomal Univer- sity in the city of Amol, Mazandaran for the 4th International Conference on Fuzzy Information and Engineering. Mazandaran is a province nestled as the foot of the Alborz mountains, bordered by lush forests in one direction and the Caspian Sea in another. I am proud to say that Shomal University is one of the biggest private uni- versities in Iran. We are gathering here today for the 4th International Conference on Fuzzy Infor- mation and Engineering. As I am sure you will know, such an endeavor is not put together in half an hour. The preparation for this conference has involved the dedi- cation and ceaseless effort of university staff, scientific committee, and organizations not within the university. My appreciation and thanks go to all those involved. I should also lie to take this opportunity of expressing my thanks to Professor Bing-yuan Cao, the president of Chinese Fuzzy Information and Engineering Society for attendance, who has honored us with his presence from China and has been with us from the very out start of the planning of this conference. I sincerely hope you will find the conference enjoyable and the discussions illuminating and enriching. I also hope you will forge new friendships and alliances helping you in your research and that this conference helps to pave the way for scientific progress.
