Modeling of reinforced concrete structures for nonlinear seismic simulation

Modeling of reinforced concrete structures for nonlinear seismic simulation Performance-based seismic engineering has led to a surge in the use of nonlinear tools for seismic evaluation of structures. An overview of modeling techniques that can be used to analyze reinforced concrete (RC) structures subjected to seismic loads is outlined in this paper with a focus on simplified approaches. Both element models and constitutive models that are typically used in nonlinear analysis of RC structures are summarized. General modeling considerations when carrying out a nonlinear seismic analysis are discussed, and a sample simulation of a multistory frame subjected to lateral and seismic loads is presented to highlight possible differences arising from modeling choices. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Structural Integrity and Maintenance Taylor & Francis
