Metalogue: Why Do We Have Homelessness?

Metalogue: Why Do We Have Homelessness? METALOGUE: WHY Do WE HAVE HOMELESSNESS? Son: Why do we have to have homelessness? Do you know what you have on your block? You have a homeless soup kitchen one block down in the Park Avenue Church. We walked past it and the homeless were waiting outdoors to go in. Father: A house is not a home. One of my favorite quotes about all this is Gandhi's statement to a news reporter when he was being interviewed. This news reporter asked him why he lived in such pover ty. (Gandhi was weaving his own clothing and living like a real peas ant.) And Gandhi chuckled and said, "My 'friends' tell me that it costs them a lot of money to keep me in poverty." And I think it's going to cost the government a lot of money to keep the homeless in homeless ness. Until they get them out. Just like it cost the government a lot of money to bail out the homeless, it's the same with the savings and loan banks that were homeless some years ago. Many financial institutions today are "homeless" because of gross mismanagement and greed, for example, Enron. Abstract
