The contribution of this entire sector of the industry to India’s gross domestic product (GDP) alone has amounted close to 6.0% during the past decade. As indicated in a report by the National Association of Software Services and Companies (NASSCOM), employment opportunities in the Indian IT sector have exceeded two million in 2009. The IT and BPO industry is also the largest employer in the private sector in India, with annual revenues exceeding US $50 billion (U.S.; NASSCOM report). Nevertheless, over the past several years, India’s position as a leading, global IT player has been neither fully steady nor sufficiently stable.
